Designed for emergency responders and others who may need to find fuel in unfamiliar areas, North Carolina Fuel Station Locator app helps locate and navigate to fuel stations throughout the state of North Carolina.
Locally-stored data allows the app to function without an internet connection. A lower resolution offline map comes built in, although a much higher resolution offline map is available as a free download at http://www.ncmhtd.com/Apple_MB_tiles.aspx. Station information includes fuels offered, street address & GPS coordinates, contact information, and the number of nozzles available.
Fuel types currently supported: Gasoline, Diesel, Ethanol (E-85), Biodiesel, Electric Charging, Compressed Natural Gas, Propane, Liquefied Natural Gas
and Hydrogen.
After selecting the appropriate fuel in the settings menu, nearby stations are displayed on a map overlay and a simple list view. The simple list view is updated every mile sorted by closest to farthest stations.
While connected to the internet, the map viewer uses Google Maps to provide navigation and the most up-to-date road information.
The Google Map view also makes it possible to connect to Google Maps turn by turn voice guided navigation. When offline, the map viewer shifts to locally-stored maps that cover the entire state of North Carolina (zoom level 11 built in and zoom level 15 when downloaded and added via itunes to your device).
Also, the ability to select and view only your favorite stations is one of the features in this app.
Notes:
- All maps and databases were created from publicly available databases.
